Intelliprint Series
Security Features
5 August, 2005 Ed Palmer

Summary: The Intelliprint series page printers have security features to control the level of operation available from the printer control panel and the printer web page.

Panel Security:

There are four security levels for the printer control panel:

The security levels are set either from the printer web page (Administration >> Console Security >> [panel setting] >> Submit) or by powering up the printer holding down a key sequence (refer to the table below).

When a disabled key is pressed, the printer display shows PANEL LOCKED.

Web Page Security:

The printer web page (refer to IP-WEB-01) can be password protected. The user can browse any page, but will be prompted for the name and/or password when the Submit button is pressed.

Method 1

These printers use this method:

9035: all models
mL450, LN45:
Product Version S1.92 and above
mL260, mL280+: Product Version S4.7 and above
cL160: Product Version S2.70 and above

Web page security uses standard HTTP authentication. The Admin Name and Password can be set from the Administration page. To enable web security, both an Admin Name and Password must be defined- if either is blank, web security is not enabled. Admin Name and Password can be up to 16 alphanumeric characters.

When web security is enabled, the user will be prompted for the name and password when submitting a change. Depending on the browser, these can usally be saved.

Web security is disabled by default.

Method 2

These older models use this method:

mL450, LN45: Product Version less than S1.92
mL260, mL280+: Product Version less than S4.7
cL160: Product Version less than S2.70
mL210, mL280, mL320, mL401, LNM40: all versions

The web page password must be set from the printer control panel- it cannot be set from the web page.

To set the password:

Turn off the printer power.
Hold STATUS and RETURN and turn on the printer power.
When the display shows PASSWORD, release the keys.
Use the NEXT and PREVIOUS keys to scroll through the character set.
Use SELECT to advance to the next character and RETURN to go to the previous character.
After entering all sixteen characters, the display will show SAVED and the printer will go ready.

The password is sixteen characters long and includes any trailing spaces. These spaces must be included when entering the password.

To remove the password, set it to all spaces.

When web security is enabled, the user will be prompted for the password when submitting a change.
