TechNote TI ML600-2
microLaser 600 - setting the contrast level with the Mac

  ·Legacy·
Technical support has been discontinued for all listed models.

SUMMARY: Printer contrast cannot be set from the printer or from the driver.

SOLUTION: The Mac user can type in a short PostScript program using TeachText, and save it under an appropriate name. It can be then downloaded to the printer by using the Font Downloader utility's ability to download a PostScript program.

NOTE: PostScript is a programming language that is case sensitive, spelling sensitive, and space sensitive.

PROCEDURE:

Darkness (Contrast) - This sets the contrast bias of the print engine. Its legal values are from .1 to 1.0. The EasySelect program gives you the option of setting this value to Light, Medium, and Dark. Light value = .4, Medium value = .8, Dark value = 1.0. Example:

%! (%Engine%) <</Darkness 0.4>> setdevparams

The above example sets the contrast bias to a value of .4, which is equal to EasySelect's Light.

For a user to get immediate feedback that the change he has just tried to make, using the above procedure, are really changed, the user can print a Diag Report by holding down the green front panel button until the LED's begin to flash. This parameter is reported on the Diag report.
